Your Weekend Planner, April 25-27

Summersville Lake | Peak Experiences

Whippoorwill at Summersville Lake, WV. Get on out there!

We’ve survived another week, bring on the weekend! Coming up this weekend – sunshine.  Coming up on the blog this weekend – your photos and stories (but send in more!) and some training tips from your favorite American, Ian Chavis.  Watch this space.

Peak is open all normal business hours this weekend.  It’s been pretty quiet when the weather’s nice, so come say hello if your allergies are driving you nuts or you’ve gotten a crazy sunburn or something. We’ll be happy to see you!

Peak News

Some Peak staff and friends took a trip to Chattanooga, TN last month.  Check out the video highlights of their trip.  Guaranteed to get your tips sweaty or your money back.

Want a free month membership? Do you want your t-shirt design on Peak’s next member t-shirt? Get your designs in!! Submit to retail@peakexperiences.com by next Thursday!

Climbing News Odds and Ends

The intrepid folks at Outside Magazine have done an in-depth report on various brands of climbing chalk.  I’d only heard of two of these but I’m dying to try out the minty fresh J-Tree chalk next time I’m looking to send. What’s your favorite brand of chalk? Do you notice the difference if you’re using a buddy’s?

After last week’s avalanche that killed over a dozen Sherpas, tensions have gotten high on the world’s tallest mountain.  If you’re interested in the history of the business side of the mountain, check out this awesome piece by John Krakaeur (the guy who wrote Into Thin Air).  It’s a long read but definitely worth it.

Finally, on a lighter note, if you’re looking for that perfect bit of decor to cap off your home gym (or just home), check out The Finish Hold.  Don’t climb on it; use it to open your favorite Coca-Cola product at the end of a long day.

Manchester Wall | Peak Experiences

Home, sweet home.

Weekend Weather

Richmond, VA

Friday: High of 77 but thunderstorms highly likely in the evening.  Stay inside and enjoy the smell of rain after it passes.
Saturday: High of 81 and a low of 50.  It’s probably not going to rain, and the storms from Friday should knock the pollen out of the air.  Go outside.
Sunday: A mellower high of 73, love of 50.  No rain, few clouds.  If you didn’t get to play outside on Saturday, here’s your chance!
